Tuna Salad & Being Dense

Tuna salad. I don’t know about you, but I love the stuff. Tuna doesn’t have to be boring, or even on bread. *gasp!* It’s quick, easy, and really tasty. Even if you’re a little dense like me.

Tuna Salad

The humble tuna salad. It’s an easy thing to make at home, and there’s a million ways to do it. It’s the go-to salad when something easy for lunch is desired. It’s a serving of fish, right? No need to buy it in a pouch or other container. You can easily make it yourself.

This is one of the first things I learned to make as a kid. That, and oatmeal because … funny story….

Ya know when you’re a kid, and you say to your mom, “Oatmeal AGAIN”?

And then she says, “Well, since it’s bothering you that much, you’re making your own breakfast from now on.”

Ummmm… *confused look, followed by large sigh*

So I learned to cook at an early age. (Ok, so this could have possibly been around age 12, but still.)

That didn’t happen to you? Well, then you were nicer to your mom I guess. (Apparently I didn’t learn, as I complained about the laundry not long after that. Yep, laundry was my next chore. I was either incredible dense, or my mom was smart as a fox.)

Back to tuna.

If you must, put it on bread or crackers, but I promise you, it can stand on it’s own. Or in a bowl of greens, drizzled with olive oil. It’s not the sexiest salad (whatever Cobb Salad), but it sure is tasty.

Remember what we learned today kids: DON’T complain to your mother, or she’ll make you do stuff on your own. (Maybe that was a good thing.)
